Abstract
The methods of nondestructive control are widely used in the sphere of locomotive repairs to check the components of traction rolling stock. The authors argue that statistic data, based on the results of nondestructive control, allow using the methods of quality controlling to test the operating conditions of the rolling stock parts.

The authors take into account engineering, operative, mechanical and heat impacts. The simulation gives opportunity to receive reliable information on the changes of structural and deflected mode of an studied object at any stage of its life cycle and to assess its remaining life and infallibility.
48-53 196
Abstract
The authors propose methods to define the types of railway stations, using grade assessment of the operations, performed within them. The authors allocate the typical signs for every group of stations, includingintermediate exchanges, railway section stations, passenger, cargo stations, and classification yards. The authors describe main characteristics of operations and give the examples of classification of the stations, based on the greatest sum of specific weights of the entries taken into consideration.
54-57 172
Abstract
The author studies the changes undertaken by central direction of traffic control of JSC Russian Railways in order to define stations’ classes and types. The article contains a review of existing techniques, concepts and new approaches to compute ranks and rates of station operations and to realize a complete computer-aided assessment scoreboard.
58-60 182
Abstract
The authors describe the structure of computer-aided system of traction rolling stock maintenance and repair. Its features help to estimate and to forecast infallibility of the equipment of electric or diesel locomotive during operation. The objective of the authors’ approach is to define optimum deadlines and volume of repair.
ECONOMICS
62-67 187
Abstract
The authors dive their opinion on the system approach of the application of the concept of intelligent traffic control. They argue that the methods of thrifty works could become effective tools to achieve goals of intelligent traffic control concept. Giving the example of classification yard, they mention that thrifty works could result in material and human resources savings, in reduction of car detention time, in growth of capacity of station structures for larger cargo operations.
68-71 231
Abstract
The efficiency of intelligent traffic control depends on the system approach of conveyance, comprising economics, engineering, and thrifty works. The authors have conducted a study at some classification yards that has permitted to compose a listing of probable losses, irrational costs, caused by activities with no extra value.
72-78 177
Abstract
Distribution of locomotives between different repair depots is a function of engineering, operative and technological factors. The authors study composition of such groups of factors, their impact on distribution of Locations of locomotives’ of operations, maintenance and repairing.
ADMINISTRATION, MANAGEMENT AND CONTROL
80-85 192
Abstract
The article refers to the system of intelligent control of operations of bilateral classification yard, and to the regimes of internal operations planning. The authors propose initial data array with operative tasks for the stations of railway section, including plan of distribution of empty cars. Shift and 24 hours algorithms have been engineered for the intention of station dispatcher, switching controller, interlocking station man on duty.
86-89 164
Abstract
The authors refer to the issues of engineering of the structure of IT-system for high-speed transport. They pay special attention to intellectualization of technology and fulfillment of requirements in the sphere of information security. They substantiate their choice of protocol, that ensures interaction of different applications.
90-95 204
Abstract
The authors propose their analysis of the numerical scoring, now used to assess the work content of railway stations for some regional directions of traffic control within JSC Russian Railways. They managed to find some operations with less contribution to the finite production. Also the authors describe technique to adjust and modify indices to shorten the list of points to be assessed, and to enhance thereby the incentive role of the scoreboard itself.
96-99 165
Abstract
The author poses a problem of the choice of better criteria and methods, which are more fruitful in order to reduce costs and to achieve more organization benefits. Among the possible solutions the author cites scheduling of traffic in the yard, dispatchers’ control of train and switching operations, that are all computeraided. The article contains algorithms of itineraries planning and of checking of their “hostility”.
100-105 455

Problem of rational mapping of transportation routes is of global and permanent effect for city agglomerations. The article is devoted to the organization of the planning of transfer junctions and hubs. The authors study the process of originating of their passenger traffic, methods of monitoring of passenger flows, their directions and volumes.
106-110 207
Abstract
The authors describe the solution in true time of an optimization problem built in the information system of a dispatcher. The schedule of departures quality is deemed to be the main criterion of optimum operation. The search for better variants of departures is held by choosing planned and alternative variants. The chosen criterion facilitates station operation.

Abstract
The inauguration of the first railway in Russia between St.Petersburg and Tsarskoye Selo took place 175 years ago, on October, 30, 1837. This date is commemorated by a set of short articles and extracts prepared with the help of the librarians of Moscow State University of Railway Engineering (MIIT). The MIIT library contains many journal and newspaper articles on the history of Russian railways and the first part of the review is based on the speech of V. Troitsky pronounced in 1886 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the national railways and dedicated to Franz Anton Ritter von Gerstner, one of those who engineered the first railway in Russia.
