Abstract
The researchers of leading shipbuilding research institute study possibilities to minimize the risks of hull damage for large-capacity arctic vessels in areas of ice pressure. The authors propose calculations of variants of freight vessels’ steering by two icebreakers taking into consideration ships’ characteristics and navigation conditions for icing seas. They argue optimization of engineering of transport vehicles for ice navigation.

Abstract
The author studies the equivalent circuit of traction network of autotransformer system of electric power supply with the voltage in the line between the feeding cable and the rails that differs from the voltage in the line between aerial contact wire and the rails. The article describes circuits for the system 2 x 25kW as a subcase where the number of closed circuits is halved. See the unilateral feeding of feeder zone, the considered variant shows distribution of load by the elements of traction network and allows to manually calculate the sought values for a train in the feeder zone or for a short circuit situation.

Abstract
The article describes innovative methods of mathematical simulation of interaction of the wheels and the rails of the railways. They can be employed for engineering of new traction rolling stock, and researchers can use them to define trajectories of moving conventional points on the railway wheel profile. Simulation is based on fundamental theory of circle kinematics, never used for this purpose.

The authors argue that the quality of aluminothermic welding of the rails depends on weather conditions as well as on the strict observance of process-dependent parameters. Rainy weather causes cavitation, negative temperature favors quenching defects, cracks followed by disintegration of a rail. The authors use experimental and design data to demonstrate and substantiate possibilities to enhance the technique of aluminothermic welding of a track way under rainy and winter conditions.

The mounting of tunnel rings in an underground excavation poses some problems in engineering of possible models. Particularly, a specific software package is required in order to optimize the rotation angles between the rings, and to engineer the lining of the tunnel for its real axle should coincide as much as possible with the initially designed one.

Permanently increasing speed of the railway traffic reduces efficiency of automatic locomotive signaling. The causes of code pattern corruption may differ but the emergence there-of represents the reason for a study and engineering of relevant technical decisions. The authors of the article propose their own variant to increase reliability of the signaling system, using the testing results of decoders of two different types.

The author also study some problems of keen interest in the sphere of fares, tariffs, criteria of efficacy and competitiveness of the actors of freightage, as well as the current operation of wagons belonging to different owners. See the decisive importance of transport and transportation for national economy, all these problems deserve an ample debate.

The authors study scheduled interval algorithm of centralized automatic control of metro train traffic, which takes into account dependencies between adjusting restrictions and system conditions. They use adaptive model of train stop time, which allows for the history of departures of the schedule of leading trains, previously departed from the same line’s stations. The algorithm is engineered for Mexico City metro and takes into account its features.

The history of railway stations is distinctive by evolutionary development (see author’s article in Mir Transporta Journal vol.40, No 2 of 2012). The complication of their functions as of centers of modern station systems poses many managerial tasks and questions.
