Abstract
In Russia prototype locomotives of new battery and hybrid types have been built, operation modes of power equipment of which have a number of features. In this connection there is a possibility of applying in them commercially available traction motors. The article shows that it is possible, but subjectto certain limitations. In order to justify their conclusion, the authors analyze different ways of solution; compare design and performance of power equipment, locomotive traction motors.
